Deep in the forest lies a house. In this house lies many creatures from many places. As you see it, you possibly wonder; "How did I never notice this before?" You walk up to the door, reaching up with a shaking hand to the door knocker. It's deathly quiet inside as everyone awaits your next move. You pull the knocker back, then ram it against the door twice quickly. A second later, a loud commotion is heard and a group of people open the door, all wearing big grins. One of them holds a tray of foods in one hand, and a tray of drinks in the other. They all flock around you, one of them slinging a welcoming arm around your shoulder and guiding you to a chair, seating you there. A second later, a cookie and tea are shoved into your hands, a blanket draped over your shoulders and a fire crackling in the fire place. As everyone clears out of the room, you take a look around. Wooden floors, covered with a grey carpet. Black walls, decorated elegantly with pictures of the people you'd seen before. A large glass coffee table sat in front of you, the legs black iron and curled up. The couch you'd been moved to was black leather, but surprisingly warm, given the cold temperature of the house. The chair that's you'd been on was also black, a large, thick grey blanket draped over the back of it. You cast a curious glance over your shoulder at the shadowed corner; having heard a small creak. A moment later, without a word, a female stands in front of you, her arms folded over her chest, her serious face watching you like a hawk. After a moment of silence, she smiles. She extends a hand, and you mirror her movement. She grips your hand tightly, giving it a shake and a reassuring squeeze. "Welcome to the Mad House, kid" After a bit of idle chatter, it begins to quiet down, the dying fire lighting the room with an eerie glow. "It's best you know about here." The girl who'd welcomed you before stated. It'd quickly become clear that she was in charge, everyone always gave their attention to her when she spoke-as they did now. "Not too long ago, I created this house." She began, closing her eyes. She shifted and sat up, ducking her bare feet under her on her chair. "I created it as a place for people to be happy and to feel at home. All sorts of people live here. We have people that aren't even human." She cleared her throat as she realized she was getting off topic. "I built it by hand with the help of a close friend," she gestured to a girl with short hair that you'd seen earlier-the one with the cupcakes. "She and I worked it all out, we got our family and friends to help us out here." She wrapped her arms around a tall, blonde and the one she'd gestured to earlier. "We're all closer than ever. And we love expanding our family." She shifted, removing her arm from around the blonde, only to extend to you. "Do you accept? Will you become part of our family?" She asked with a smile; the first one you've seen from her. You can't help but smile back at the girl, ignoring the fact that she, herself, was clearly not fully human-due to the strange cat-like tail she had, and cat like pointed ears on her head that constantly twitched. "I accept." You say, shaking her hand. "Welcome to the family." |
